Bilster Berg gets green flag!
A while ago, we reported about this project to build a new race-track in Germany, transforming an old ammo depot into a top-notch circuit. Now, according to Motorsport-Magazin.com, it looks like the relevant german authorities have given green flag to the project! If all goes well, the first driving events will take place in June or July 2012.
After a 6-year long planning phase, builders will now be able to start working on the 4.2 km track designed by Hermann Tilke. The whole project is budgeted at EUR 34 mio, entirely privately financed.
Beside Tilke, rallye- and Nordschleife-legend Walter Röhrl has been involved in the design of this new course. He promises us "one of the most authentic and most demanding venues in Europe". Sound good to us!

But don't expect high-profile races at Bilster Berg. Big parking lots and public infrastructure will not be available. The concept rather puts the focus onto private events, industry testing and the like. However, club-racing will be part of the game too.
